Gary Carriveau

This presentation contains a description of an object of a well-known type reported in the archaeological literature originally held a private collection. Examples of this type of vessel have been excavated in the Eastern Mediterranean and have been depicted in Egyptian tomb painting from the Eighteenth Dynasty. Technical examination to be discussed includes age determination using thermoluminescence dating, provenance investigation using neutron activation analysis, and a study of the contents of the vessel using x-ray and neutron radiography, optical microscopy, x-ray diffraction, and gas chromatography.
